What is LED Strip's Light?

LED strip lights are an efficient, energy-saving and fun decorative lighting fixture that uses LED (light-emitting diode) technology to affix many LED beads to an LED light source board for lighting purposes. LED strip length can be cut as needed and is energy efficient, long-lasting and environmentally friendly. It is commonly used for home decoration and interior lighting, providing soft and comfortable lighting effects. It can also be used outdoors, such as in building facades, swimming pools and other scenes, to provide illumination.

How to cut LED light strips?

How to cut LED light strips

LED strip lights have copper dots at the end of each LED light. To separate the lights, cut between the copper dots and connect the entire strip to a power source. They’re perfect for adding lighting anywhere you want to add colour. Here’s a step-by-step look at how LED strips are cut.

1.Be sure to measure the length of the LEDs you need

Be sure to measure the length of LEDs you need

The LED lights come in one long strip. You’ll have to cut off individual LED lights when needed, but you have to cut them at specific points for them to work properly. Determine the length of your LED light strip and cut off any leftover LEDs.

2.Look for the line on either side of the LED's copper dots.

Look for the line on either side of the LED's copper dots

Look for pairs of little copper dots on each side of an LED strip. One is called the anode, and the other is the cathode. Choose a point along this line close to your earlier measurement.

3.Use scissors to cut the LED strip apart

To attach the lights, snip along the dotted line between the copper dots. Line up the cut carefully to avoid damaging the LEDs.

How to Install LED strip lights?

How to Install LED strip lights

LED strip lights are flexible and easy to work with. You can bend them to fit any area of your house, and their thin design makes them perfect for placing under cabinets or in closets. When you need a shorter length than what you bought, just cut the lights! If you want to add something cool to your room, LED strip lights are the way to go.

How to fix LED strip lights?

How to fix LED strip lights

1. LED strip is not turned on

You’ve connected the power to the LED strip and turned it on, but nothing seems to be happening. Here are some things you can do to troubleshoot.

2. LED Strip is Dim at One End

If your LED strip has a noticeably lower brightness at one end, it might be experiencing a voltage drop. Voltage drop is a commonly observed issue with lower-quality LED strips. Its primary cause is excessive electrical current for a given circuit design or excessive resistance in the circuitry.

3. The brightness of the LED strip decreases over time.

If your LED strips are losing brightness across the entire strip, there are two possible causes:

●The input voltage of the LED strip has dropped below the designed voltage

To determine which of these two issues is to blame, first determine the input voltage at the point where the LED strip is connected to the power supply. If the input voltage here is below 12V (10V for a 12V LED strip), you’ll likely see an issue with the power supply or a loose/corroded connection between the LED strip and the power supply. The good news is that your LED strip is likely in OK shape, and correcting your wiring or replacing your power supply will resolve your issue.

●The LEDs themselves are dimming

If you find that the LED strips are being fed the full design voltage (e.g. 12V for a 12V system), but you are still seeing a brightness drop, then your LED strips may have a serious issue with the LEDs. LEDs are generally designed to last more than 36000 hours, but some lower-quality products cut corners in their design and manufacturing, leading to premature failures. In such situations, your only choice may be to replace the LED strips entirely.

4. The LED strip adhesive isn't holding well

If the LED strip falls off the surface it was mounted on; you may not have used enough double-sided tape. Consider reapplying a new layer of double-sided tape and using some mounting brackets to make a more secure mount.

5.LED strip has sections that do not light up

If you see some dim sections of your strip, check to make sure it wasn’t knocked loose during shipping or installation. If you’re familiar with how to solder, you can reattach the loose LEDs to their circuit boards by reheating the solder joints, or we recommend that you contact your supplier for a replacement (if they provide a warranty).

LED strips are an easy way to add light to your car, computer, kitchen countertops, home theatre and other areas. They come in single colours, RGB with remote control, individually addressable lights, and some even have “smart” connectivity. But one question that sometimes pops up concerning LED strips (especially if you’re new to them) is Can You Cut LED Strip Lights? We’ve seen that you can easily cut them, and here’s how to do it.
