What is CB?

CB system is a system of global mutual recognition of electrical product safety test results established by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) Electrical Product Conformity Testing and Certification Organization (EEIECC).

More than 50 member countries participate in the CB program. Depending on the CB system, manufacturers can obtain safety certification from multiple countries at one time, and truly realize a test to meet a variety of test requirements.

In addition, manufacturers who have obtained CB certificate can also greatly save costs and time when applying for other certifications.

CB certification is applicable to the member countries of the CB system, covering developed countries and most developing countries in the world.

The CE mark applies to 28 European countries including the European Union. The CB certification only covers the safety requirements, even if the CB certification includes the EU differences, but if the product is also covered by other EU directives (such as electromagnetic compatibility EMC, mechanical directive, etc.), its CB certification cannot show that it has met the requirements of the CE mark. It can only show that the product has met the requirements of the low voltage instruction (LVD) of the CE mark.

The CE mark cannot be affixed to the product yet, and relevant electromagnetic compatibility and EMC tests must be supplemented. The CE mark contains multiple instructions, but when the product is only applicable to the low voltage directive (LVD), the CB certification that includes the EU differences will prove that it has met the requirements of the CE mark, so the enterprise can paste the CE mark on the product .

What is CE?

The lamp CE is a mark indicating that the product has complied with the European safety/health/environmental protection/hygiene series standards and directives. CE certification indicates that the product has met the safety requirements specified by the European Union directive; It is a commitment of enterprises to consumers, which increases consumers’ trust in products. Products bearing the CE mark will reduce the risk of marketing in the European market. Any country’s products to enter the European Union, the European Free Business District must be CE certification, in the product affixed CE mark. CE certification is mandatory for all products sold in the EU market.

Lamps CE testing items have the following five aspects: 1.EMC-EN55015 2.EMC-EN61547 3.LVD-EN60598 4. If LVD with rectifier is generally done EN61347 5.EN61000-3-2/-3(test harmonic)

CE is composed of EMC(Electromagnetic Compatibility)+LVD(Low voltage instruction). EMC also includes EMI(interference)+EMS(anti-interference), LVD is generally known as SAFETY, generally low-voltage products AC less than 50V, DC less than 75V can not do LVD project. Low-voltage products only need to test EMC and issue CE-EMC certificate. High-voltage products need to test EMC and LVD, and issue two certificates and reports CE-EMC CE-LVD.

EMC(Electromagnetic Compatibility)–EMC test standard (EN55015, EN61547). The test items include the following aspects: 1 radiation radiation 2.conduction conduction 3.ESD static electricity 4.CS conduction anti-interference 5.

LVD(Low Voltage Instruction) — LVD test standard (EN60598), the test items include the following aspects: 1. Fault (test)2. Impact 3. Vibration 4. Impact 5. Electrical clearance 6. Creepage distance 7. Electric shock 8. Heat 9. Overload 10. Temperature rise test.

LVD standard for lamps: IEC/EN60598-1; IEC/EN60598-2-x (depending on the lamp, the specific standard is different) IEC/EN61347-1 (LED driver power supply) IEC/EN61347-2-13; IEC/EN62031 (LED module) IEC/EN62471 (Photobiosafety) IEC/EN62493 (EMF standard).

The following materials are required for the project report: 2-4 samples, description of model differences, user manual in English (or the language of the country to be visited), drawing of the nameplate, circuit diagram, list of parts and components, product structure drawing, schematic drawing, layout drawing, silkscreen drawing and list of electronic components if PCB version is available.

What is the relationship between ErP and CE mark?

The ErP Directive is the new European CE marking regulation. As a CE mark directive, the requirements of the ErP directive will be implemented along with other requirements such as safety regulations, EMC, radio, etc

Ii. Test items involved in ERP certification?

  1. Failure rate of 3600 hours is greater than or equal to 0.9 (the test time is longer, this requirement will be implemented from September 1, 2021);
  2. 3600 hours of light flux maintenance rate is greater than or equal to 0.8 (test time is longer, this requirement will be implemented from September 1, 2021);
  3. the number of switching before failure is greater than or equal to 15000 times (rated life 30000 hours) or greater than or equal to half of the rated life in hours;
  4. Startup time is less than 0.5 seconds;
  5. the time required to 95% light flux is less than 2 seconds;
  6. Early failure rate is less than or equal to 5.0% (normal lighting for 1000 hours);
  7. color rendering index is greater than or equal to 80%, for outdoor or industrial use of color rendering index is greater than or equal to 65%;
  8. the color tolerance is less than or equal to 6db;
  9. power factor requirements: DF=PF X square root (1+THD2) THD value for the power supply current harmonic, generally between 3%-15%Power less than or equal to 2W, no power factor requirements;From 2W to 5W, PF value should be greater than 0.4;From 5W to 25W, PF value is greater than 0.5;Power greater than 25W, PF value greater than 0.9.
  10. Increase stroboscopic test: SVM, Pst LM;

Iii. ErP Directives EC 244/2009, EC 245/2009, EU 1194/2012 and Energy Efficiency Labelling Directive EU 874/2012 have been in force for many years. In the past three years, the EU has reviewed these directives by taking into account the continuous improvement of lighting products’ technology, environmental and economic factors and actual user behavior. And promulgated the new ErP Directive EU 2019/2020 and Energy Efficiency Labelling Directive EU 2019/2015 on 5 December 2019.

Iv. Main differences between the new EU 2019/2015 Energy Efficiency Labelling Directive and the old Directive:

The calculation of energy efficiency grade is changed from EEI index to ηTM (lm/W), which is more intuitive.

The energy efficiency rating was changed from Class A to Class G;

Higher energy efficiency requirements such as the previous Class A++ are only equivalent to the current Class E.
