A magnetic track lighting system is more than a rail and a fixture. Its mechanical interface, voltage, power feed, connectors and controls must be selected as one system.
KingOrnan checks the fixture mix, power supply, track and accessories before production. The approved specification becomes the reference for samples, bulk orders and future repeat orders.
Different widths use different fixtures, adapters, contacts and accessories. Products from separate system series should not be mixed unless compatibility is confirmed.

KingOrnan offers 24V or 48V in-track and remote power options in 100W, 200W, 300W and up to 400W. In a typical space, one correctly sized power supply can serve one track system assembled from 1m, 2m or 3m sections. The final selection follows the total fixture load, track length, feed position and system rating.
Total connected load: 93W. A 100W driver can meet the load requirement, but it would operate at 93% load. For greater operating headroom and longer-term reliability, we recommend a 200W driver.
The 200W recommendation keeps the system comfortably below the preferred 80% working-load target and leaves practical capacity for later adjustment.
Depending on the selected platform and driver, options can include ON/OFF, dimming, 0–10V, DALI, Zigbee, Bluetooth Mesh, Casambi or Tuya-based solutions.

Answers for initial sourcing and system planning. Final decisions should be based on the confirmed model and complete project configuration.
No. The 5mm, 10mm, 20mm, 24mm and 26mm ranges are independent platforms. Their adapters, internal structures, electrical contacts and accessories may differ. Use products matched to the same system series. Within the confirmed KingOrnan 20-series family, S20 glowing track is designed to accept 20-series light modules.
It depends on the space, target illumination and fixture wattage. The ultra-slim 5mm system is better suited to supplementary, accent and decorative lighting. The 10mm and 20mm systems offer broader fixture selections for a complete room-lighting plan.
S20 is a new 48V member of the 20-series family. Three diffuser faces around its Ø60mm cylindrical body provide soft ambient light, while the lower magnetic opening accepts KingOrnan 20-series fixtures. Available track versions are 12W / 645mm, 24W / 1245mm and 36W / 1845mm. The glowing track's own wattage must be included when calculating the complete system load.
The complete S24 24mm product family is designed as an IP65 magnetic track system for balconies and other suitable outdoor environments. Its dedicated product page and detailed model documentation are in preparation.
There is no universal fixed number. Add the wattage of every connected luminaire and accessory, then select the power supply with enough margin while checking the selected track and connector ratings. Standard 1m, 2m and 3m tracks can be joined; one correctly sized power supply is generally enough for one track system in one space.
Keep the connected load at or below about 80% of the power-supply rating where practical. For example, 2 × 18W grille lights + 12W spotlight + 25W flood light + 20W speaker = 93W. A 100W driver can meet this load requirement, but it would operate at 93% load, so we recommend a 200W driver for greater headroom and longer-term reliability. When using S20, also include the glowing track's own 12W, 24W or 36W load.
Not always. A common voltage does not guarantee the same mechanical fit, contacts, polarity or control protocol. Established 20mm systems can offer broader cross-supplier compatibility, but verification is still required. A physical sample is the most reliable check.
Yes, when they belong to the same platform and have compatible voltage, contacts and controls. Their total wattage must remain within the ratings of the track, connectors and power supply.
Not necessarily. Individual addressing requires compatible fixture drivers, controllers, gateways and correct system commissioning. Confirm whether the project needs track-wide, group or individual control before production.
Yes. Samples can be checked for track fit, electrical contact, optical performance, CCT, CRI, dimming, smart control and complete-system compatibility. The approved sample and specification can then become the production reference.
KingOrnan can support T/T, L/C and other agreed methods. Specific terms are confirmed during quotation according to order value, customization and the cooperation arrangement.

A successful magnetic track lighting project starts with three questions: how the system works, what each fixture should light, and which control architecture fits the building. These practical guides cover all three.
A magnetic track lighting system combines a powered low-voltage track with interchangeable light modules. Magnetic attraction holds each compatible fixture in position while electrical contacts connect it to the conductors inside the track. The result is a clean lighting infrastructure in which spotlights, linear lights, grille lights, floodlights and pendants can be moved or replaced as the room layout changes.
The complete system is more than the visible light fixture. It includes the track profile, magnetic luminaires, power supply, electrical feeds, straight or corner connectors and the accessories required for recessed, surface-mounted or suspended installation. These parts must belong to the same compatible platform; products from different magnetic track systems should not be mixed simply because their nominal voltage or width appears similar.
The main advantage is flexibility: the installer can build one continuous visual language while the designer adjusts fixture position, beam direction and light distribution later. Read our full system guide for a deeper explanation of components, installation methods, benefits and common applications.
Do not begin by choosing the fixture shape. Begin with the lighting task. Most complete schemes combine three layers: main lighting for useful ambient brightness, accent lighting for visual hierarchy, and decorative lighting for atmosphere and identity. Magnetic track lights make those layers easier to coordinate because several luminaire types can share one compatible track platform.
Main lighting should deliver comfortable, usable illumination throughout the occupied area. Linear modules, wide-distribution floodlights and low-glare grille lights are common choices because they spread light more evenly than a narrow spotlight. Review the required illuminance, mounting height, spacing, beam distribution and glare—not wattage alone. In an office, retail aisle or living area, an orderly module layout usually feels calmer and avoids bright patches beside dark zones.
Accent lighting directs attention to merchandise, art, tables, architectural finishes or feature walls. Magnetic spotlights, zoom spotlights, framing lights and wall washers give more control over beam position and contrast. Match the beam angle to the target size and throw distance: a narrow beam isolates a small object, while a wider beam suits a larger display. Check aiming angles early to reduce glare and unwanted shadows.
Decorative lighting gives the ceiling and room a recognizable character. Pendants can lower the visual focal point above a counter or table, while illuminated track and special modules can become part of the architecture itself. Decorative light should support the main and accent layers rather than compensate for insufficient general illumination. Keep the color temperature, finish and proportions consistent across the project.
| Lighting layer | Typical magnetic fixtures | Key selection factors | Common mistake to avoid |
|---|---|---|---|
| Main lighting | Linear, flood and low-glare grille modules | Lumen output, distribution, spacing, mounting height, glare and target illuminance | Using only narrow-beam spotlights and creating uneven pools of light |
| Accent lighting | Adjustable spot, zoom, framing and wall-wash modules | Beam angle, aiming flexibility, throw distance, target size and contrast ratio | Choosing beam angle by appearance before checking the object and installation distance |
| Decorative lighting | Pendants, illuminated track and specialty modules | Scale, visual rhythm, finish, color temperature and relationship to the interior | Prioritizing visual effect while overlooking useful light and system load |
After defining the lighting layers, select the platform and installation method: recessed, trimless recessed, surface-mounted or suspended. Then confirm fixture types, output, beam angle, color temperature and color rendering. For retail, hospitality and residential projects where material colors matter, a higher CRI option can improve visual quality, but it should be evaluated together with efficacy, consistency and project budget.
Next, calculate the complete electrical load, including every light and any powered accessory such as a Bluetooth speaker. For example, two 18 W grille lights, one 12 W spotlight, one 25 W floodlight and one 20 W speaker total 93 W. A 100 W driver can meet that load requirement, but it would operate at 93% load. KingOrnan therefore recommends a 200 W driver for greater operating headroom and longer-term reliability. Track runs can be joined into the planned layout, and one correctly sized power supply can serve one compatible track system within the space.
Finally, decide whether simple switching, dimming, DALI, Zigbee or Bluetooth Mesh control is required. Confirm the matching drivers, controllers and gateways before ordering the bill of materials. If the project is still at concept stage, send us the ceiling plan, room dimensions, target market and preferred control method. Our team can help prepare a compatible fixture mix and preliminary system proposal.
The best lighting control method depends on the building infrastructure, project scale, commissioning plan and required user experience. DALI, Zigbee and Bluetooth Mesh can all support dimming, grouping and scene control, but they do not use the same communication architecture or interchangeable components.
DALI is a wired, addressable lighting-control approach often selected for professional commercial projects that need defined groups, scenes, schedules and integration with a wider building strategy. It offers precise control but requires compatible DALI drivers, control devices and planned cabling and commissioning.
Zigbee is a low-power wireless mesh protocol commonly used with a gateway or hub. It can suit smart-home and commercial lighting projects where flexible wireless grouping and ecosystem integration are priorities. Bluetooth Mesh also lets compatible devices relay messages across the network and can work well for app-based smart lighting in residential and small-to-medium commercial spaces.
Choose the control architecture before finalizing the magnetic fixtures and power system. Drivers, controllers, gateways, wall panels and software must be matched to the selected platform and project requirements. Our detailed smart-home technology guide compares these options with Wi-Fi, Matter, RF and 0/1–10 V control.
